Clean Water Action found that 49% of street litter comes from fast food outlets, McDonald's being the greatest culprit. Switching to a higher ratio of compostable packaging, as the report suggests, would not address the littering problem. It could even worsen as people often assume compostable means biodegradable if dropped in nature.
