Biography
Emmanuel Dzotsi is a journalist and podcast host. He’s reported stories about backroom deals for political power, rat-hunting terriers, the strange phenomenon of white people sending Black folks venmo payments as reparations, and vast money-making phone scams hidden in plain sight. As a co-host of the third season of the critically acclaimed podcast Serial, Emmanuel spent a year embedded in Cleveland’s criminal courts investigating police misconduct, and chronicling the stories of hundreds of people whose run-ins with the justice system often didn’t make front page news. For his work on Serial, Emmanuel was a recipient of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for National Reporting. Most recently, Emmanuel was the co-host of the popular podcast about the internet, Reply All, where he was a National Magazine Award finalist for his 3-part series on a years-long feud in the Alabama Democratic Party. Emmanuel also produced the show’s most downloaded and celebrated episode, “The Case of the Missing Hit”, about an earworm very few people remember. Emmanuel has also contributed to radio shows like the critically acclaimed This American Life, and has been profiled in publications like the New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Guardian, among others.
