A total of 810 people died on Washington roads in 2023. That's the highest number in 33 years, up from 743 in 2022 and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) attributes largely to speed. "There's so much research that shows speed causes more collisions," said WSDOT spokesperson Amy Moreno.
