According to a press release, twins “start out smaller in pregnancy than was previously known.” Ultrasounds of 315 twins with individual placentas were compared to 2,604 single pregnancies. The analysis found that “twins have less fat tissue and less muscle mass than singletons beginning at 15 weeks of pregnancy.”Additional research is needed to verify these results.
