The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) Scotland says the more than 100,000 blind and partially sighted women in Scotland face a range of barriers in accessing cervical screening. Some women have described their experience as “rough” and “painful”, telling the charity that they feel uninformed and unsupported throughout.

At the launch event, new mothers and their babies joined forces with older residents at Kilsyth Victoria Cottage Hospital to share experiences, advice and encouragement about breastfeeding. Led by local health visitors, the initiative aims to emphasise breastfeeding as a valuable bond shared across generations, while creating a safe, inclusive space to connect.

The latest round of the Autistic Adult Support Fund is now open to organisations across Scotland which help adults with an autism diagnosis and self-identified autistic adults understand what neurodivergence means for them and improve their wellbeing.
