Biography

I am a Writer/Associate Editor and Communications Consultant with 10 years of experience. A storyteller at heart, I have previously worked at Parents magazine as an Associate Editor, spearheading the Content Development Strategy team and producing a high-quality monthly publication with diverse multi-cultural audiences in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. I also led the team that revamped Parents Magazine’s look and helped transition the publication to digital media. Quarterly, I produce a newsletter publication for Cyizere Girls in Rwanda. As a freelance consultant, I have led content development projects, and writing and editing reports for Non-Governmental Organisations including Zizi Afrique’s UNICEF-funded Shule Safi report documentation, Akili Dada report documentation and the 2021 Annual report documentation for the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK). Recently, I was involved in organising and coordinating media publicity for an internal corporate event to mark the retirement of a business leader in Kenya’s pharmaceutical industry. My passion for the advancement of women's voices led me to take up an Editor role in 2020 on the Kenya Women Series, a digital series. This is a series that amplifies the voices of Kenyan women by helping them package and tell their stories powerfully. The series won an international award- The Voice Achievers Award- in 2021. I am also a digital strategist, excellent at executing digital campaigns and building strong brand awareness through social media interaction. I believe in the power of networking and I am an active member of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) and the Network of Women in Media and PR. I have a Masters degree in Communication and media studies from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelors degree in English and Literature from Kenyatta University.
