Biography

With two decades of experience in responsible investment, I write commentary and analysis on sustainable business and finance. My writing includes investment, energy, manufacturing, agriculture, local enterprise and international development issues with a climate and net-zero focus. I generally cover these issues from a national or global viewpoint but often bring a local perspective from my home city of Hamilton, ON. My volunteer work includes serving on the Loan Review Committee of the Fair Finance Fund, which provides affordable lending for food and farm enterprises in Ontario. Last year, I completed a six-year stint on the board of Fairtrade Canada. I served as Executive Director of the Social Investment Organization (now Responsible Investment Association) between 1999 and 2012, and between 2013 and 2019 headed up the Canadian capital-raising operations of Oikocredit International, a leading impact investor in developing countries.
