One highlight event of the month was the visit of the The Daily Mile team – Frank Greally and Valerie O’Brien – to the Connacht GAA Airdome in Mayo where there was a gathering of six primary schools from counties Mayo and Roscommon. The special guest  on the day was European 4x400m relay silver medallist Lauren Cadden – who was a huge hit with the children.

Athletics Ireland, officially known as the Athletic Association of Ireland, is the national governing body for athletics in Ireland. Established in 1873 and renamed in 1999, it oversees various athletic disciplines, including track and field, road running, cross country, race walking, mountain running, and ultra-distance events. The organization operates throughout the entire island of Ireland, including Northern Ireland, and is affiliated with World Athletics and the European Athletic Association. Athletics Ireland manages a network of 270 affiliated clubs, representing over 26,000 athletes. It organizes and sanctions events ranging from local 5Ks to international competitions. The organization supports elite athletes through high-performance programs, coaching, and funding, while also promoting grassroots development in schools and recreational running. Additionally, it provides education and training for coaches and officials, publishes a competition calendar, and produces the *Irish Runner Magazine*. The current president is John Cronin, and the CEO is John Foley.
