Freddie Clayton is an NCTJ qualified journalist covering climate, environment and public health. He specialises in investigative, on-the-ground reporting on marginalised and vulnerable communities, working alongside local journalists whenever possible. His work has been supported by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism, and the Solutions Journalism Network, and published in The Guardian, Al Jazeera, New Lines Magazine, The Economist, Nature, among many others. As an investigative reporter, he has covered Bolivia's exploitative national lottery, ground-breaking water reclamation systems in the United States, and sanitation crises in Namibia. His work on the latter resulted in the construction of toilets in four regions in Namibia, and was nominated for multiple awards. Freddie is the weekend reporter at NBC News' international bureau in London, covering the war in Gaza and other breaking news events. He is also a regular contributor to Eurosport. In 2024, he became a member of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network at the Reuters Institute for Journalism. He holds a post-graduate degree in Ancient History from the University of Oxford. In 2024, he was longlisted for the One World Media New Voice award.
