Climate Tracker

The Climate Action Tracker (CAT) is an independent scientific project focused on tracking government climate actions and measuring them against the goals of the Paris Agreement. It aims to limit global warming to well below 2°C and pursue efforts to keep it to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Established in 2009, CAT is a collaboration between Climate Analytics and NewClimate Institute, both based in Germany. CAT provides a range of services, including tracking and analysis of climate change mitigation targets and policies. It evaluates the impact of these policies on national emissions and develops sectoral analyses to illustrate pathways for meeting global temperature goals. The project also offers a Decarbonisation Data Portal to monitor decarbonization efforts and produces detailed country reports and policy briefings to inform policymakers and the public about climate commitments and actions. Covering 34 countries and the EU, CAT accounts for a significant portion of global emissions and plays a vital role in international climate negotiations.
