The man told Ngaarda Media he had only wanted to deposit $50 in his TAB account but a female staff member had stopped him entering. “She told me: ‘you can’t go in there, we had three incidents today’,” he said. A spokesperson for the Newman Hotel, which trades as the Purple Pub, apologised for the “big misunderstanding”. “The situation got out of hands and she did that but she also regrets it,” the spokesperson said.
