Biography

Gerard Albert III is a senior journalism major who flip flopped around creative interests until being pulled away by the rush of reporting. He enjoys balancing the discipline and conviction in journalism with finding creative ways to find the truth and report it. Gerard served as the assistant news director for PantherNow, FIU’s Student Media, covering breaking news and student government. He also interned at CBS News Miami covering sports and local elections. Currently he is living in New York City reporting for South Florida Media Network, published by the Florida International University School of Communications and Journalism. Gerard carries his camera everywhere he goes and has photographed protests, sports games and everything in between. He finds multimedia reporting essential in the 21st century and usually takes photographs or videos to accompany his articles. His interest in journalism started after watching Vice documentaries, reading books by Hunter S. Thompson and Bob Woodward and seeing the photographs in Time magazine and National Geographic around his house.
