    By Gina Malone Verified| BlueRidgeNow Verified TRYON — The spray painting of a controversial billboard in Polk County early Thursday morning — and the sign's subsequent removal — have given rise to more online debate about the billboard's message and freedom of speech. After passersby saw the vandalism, Tryon resident Chris Tinkler took to Facebook to spread the word about plans for “peaceful protest” of the sign’s defacement on Sunday. However, now that the sign has been taken down, Tinkler said he doesn’t see much point in holding a rally.
