By Ginger Crichton| Midwest Living Verified At some point every winter, I need a break. A few days away from leaden skies, heavy clothing, snow and ice. For me, Arizona's Sonoran desert calls. My husband and I started visiting Tucson in winter more than 10 years ago, and we just keep going back. The weight of winter instantly disappears when I see the blue bowl of the sky, feel the intensity of the sun, gaze at the now-familiar saguaros and palo verde trees.
