Chicago Gallery News

Chicago Gallery News (CGN) is an independent, woman-owned publication dedicated to the art community in Chicago and its surrounding areas. Founded in the winter of 1982/83 by Natalie van Straaten, CGN began by promoting a select group of galleries in the River North area and has since expanded to cover a wide range of galleries, artists, and art events throughout the region. CGN offers comprehensive listings of art exhibitions, events, and news, making it a valuable resource for art enthusiasts and collectors. The publication produces three print editions annually and maintains a digital platform to reach a broader audience. Additionally, CGN provides information on art tours and rental spaces, supporting engagement with local art venues. The publication also promotes educational programs related to art, contributing to the cultural landscape of Chicago. Under the leadership of Publisher Virginia B. Van Alyea and Business Manager Emily Ackerman, CGN continues to foster a vibrant art community.
