In 2017, Terrell was notably named the National Association of Black Journalists Student Journalist of the Year in part for founding and serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Pipers In-Depth magazine (an award-winning student magazine serving his alma matter). Terrell covered Minnesota’s arts scene under Twin Cities Daily Planet (2014-15).
