Biography
Born in Montebello, CA and raised in the Greater Los Angeles area. Gisselle communicates fluently in Spanish, English and ASL. She graduated from Montebello High School in 2015 and enrolled in East Los Angeles College in 2016. During her time at ELAC, Gisselle completed a Journalism certificate of program completion, an AA-T for Journalism and an AA for General Studies: Arts and Humanities with a concentration on American Sign Language (ASL). Gisselle also worked on an AA-T in Anthropology before graduating in 2019 with honors. During her time at ELAC, she also worked for her campus publication where she had articles, cartoons, photographs and other multimedia works published and was also the Opinions and News editor. Gisselle interviewed, photographed and communicated with sources, used investigative methods and research from credible sources to compile information for her articles. She prefers to cover issues on social justice that highlight the problems that marginalized communities are faced with each day. She is inspired by the ‘anthropoetic’ work of photographers like Sebastiao Salgado, Graciela Iturbide and Henry Cartier-Bresson.
