The UMES Department of Public Safety officers and Maryland State Police arrested the male students around 9:45 p.m. on Friday. School officials said they collaborated with State Police to ensure everyone on campus was protected from any potential threat to their wellbeing.

On March 31 at 11:19 p.m. troopers responded to Sherwood Forest Way in Hartly for a reported shooting. A 35-year-old man had been shot and taken to the Hartly Volunteer Fire Company. The victim was later taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. Investigators are seeking 40-year-old Myreon Lindsey of Stevensville, Maryland.
