Biography

I love fintech. Like, I actually love it. SaaS. Cloud. Blockchain. Open Finance. Even the little robo chats. And I feel incredibly privileged to be the person who gets to tell these stories to the world. Talking to pioneers, reporting on life-saving technology. It's everything to me. And I hate greenwashing. Well who doesn't?! In my old life I worked for banks and was unintentionally part of that grimy greenwashing machine. But I educated myself with a MSc. And realised the error of my ways. Now I write about genuine sustainability and call out the bad guys on my blog, Hannah's Blog. It's going well, and even won Blog of the Year recently! (Thank you Headline Money!) So that's me. I write about all kinds of investing and wealth management topics. You'll be especially happy (I hope) with my fintech articles, and ... if you don't mind a little controversy I'll write one hell of an expose on corporate greenwashing. đź’Ş

  • Why is bridging so late to embedded finance?

By Hannah Duncan| Bridging Loan Directory Verified By Hannah Duncan I know that I shouldn’t be surprised. And yet, clicking through website after website it is astonishing to me that you still need to call or email to apply for a bridging loan. We live in a world where 24.6 million Brits (half the adult population) get instantly approved for loans at the checkout by the likes of Klarna and ClearPay. And yet, what is supposed to be the quickest of all alternative finance – bridging – is a manual process … How can that be?

  • What is it REALLY like to be a woman in bridging finance?

By Hannah Duncan| Bridging Loan Directory Verified By Hannah Duncan Let’s be real. Bridging finance is male dominated. We see this at events, on news sites and especially the “our team” page on company websites. However, it’s almost impossible to get any hard figures on the true disparity. The lives of women in bridging finance are under-researched and left largely untouched by academics. As a financial journalist, the lack of hard facts is frustrating. More importantly though, it reveals a telling lack of attention from the industry.
