By Hannah Schmidt Verified| CKCO-TV (Kitchener, ON) Verified The City of Guelph has installed new drop boxes across several parks and public spaces for discarded needles. “Community sharps drop boxes are a safe and effective way to help reduce the number of needles left in public spaces, by offering convenient access to a bin designed for items that can pose a health risk if disposed of improperly,” explained Gene Matthews, the city’s general manager of parks, in a media release.

Officers were first dispatched to Victoria Road, Stone Road and Watson Parkway for a grass fire. Shortly after, they were called to two more fires in the area. “One of the fires was also in a grassy/wooded area, and the other was in a camp, with a tent and tree being burnt,” police said in a media release.
