"It's causing a mess," said Christopher Colon. Scooter rentals like Lime and Bird have become an increasingly popular way to get around the borough. Lime says ridership is up 72% in the Bronx from last year. While convenient, people who live in the area say they are having to dodge scooters that are piled up in the middle of the sidewalk, blocking crosswalks and driveways.

  • NYC DOT announces Summer Streets returns to The Bronx and Brooklyn in August

DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez says after listening to community feedback, they decided to extend the fun-packed day by two hours. Streets will be shutting down to drivers from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will open to pedestrians, cyclists, performers and local businesses. On Aug. 24, Summer Streets will run along the Grand Concourse from East Tremont Avenue to Mosholu Parkway.
