Biography

I am a New York-based journalist who explores the stories of communities that are disregarded by traditional media and shows the nuances in their lives. I attended the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY where I was in the Engagement Journalism MA program. As a student at Newmark, I interned at Refinery29, where I wrote articles ranging from an interview with a Black brand founder to how to a guide on how to manage COVID-related anxiety. I have also written for Slate, Documented, Next City, Harper’s Bazaar and Teen Vogue. Most recently, I worked as the social media manager at Capital B News. I am interested in opportunities to report for various publications and my website is houreidja.com.
