By Ian Patrick Laqui| The Philippine Star Verified MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has filed a disqualification petition against congressional aspirant Ian Sia over alleged discriminatory remarks made during his campaign. The "motu proprio" petition was filed by Comelec’s Task Force SAFE on Wednesday, April 16. According to Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco, the complaint will be raffled to a Comelec division, which will then issue a summons to Sia and an order for him to file a comment in response to the complaint.

Baddiri was sworn in by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo on April 11, while Acebido took his oath on April 14. Both were appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Feb. 24, 2025. Baddiri will fill the position previously held by retired Justice Edwin Sorongon.

In its latest heat index bulletin, PAGASA reported that several areas are under the “danger” classification, with forecast heat index values ranging from 42°C to 50°C. The station at NAS-UPLB in Los Baños, Laguna may experience temperatures reaching 50°C — the same extreme heat index recorded there on April 15.
