During his 12 years as governor from January 1810 to December 1821, he played a key role in developing the NSW economy by establishing its first currency and bank. There is a statue of him in Sydney's Hyde Park, looking down Macquarie Street, home to the NSW Parliament.

    By Ilias Bakalla Verified| SBS Verified تناقلت وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي في أكتوبر الماضي مقطع فيديو يُزعم أنه يظهر مجموعة من أسرى حماس الذين يحتجزهم الجيش الإسرائيلي، حيث اجبروا على الاستماع لأغنية عبرية للأطفال لمدة تصل إلى ثماني ساعات. يُظهر الفيديو الأسرى وهم معصوبو الأعين ومكبلي الأيدي، وكانت الأغنية مشابهة لأغنية الأطفال المشهورة Baby Shark ومؤلفها الفنان الإسرائيلي ميني تزوكيرل. هذه الحادثة ليست الوحيدة التي يشهد فيها العالم استخدام الموسيقى بشكل مهين في حالات الاحتجاز.
