Biography
Jack Revell is the News and Culture Editor at The Latch. Born in Brisbane, but growing up in Sydney, he moved to the UK in 2006 where he earned degrees in English (BA) and International Relations (MA) before returning to Sydney in 2018. Having worked part-time as a freelancer for many years, he wrote copy for an environmental startup before quitting in January 2020 to pursue the dream of freelance journalism. This proved to be excellent timing. Jack has written on arts, culture, and politics for SBS Voices, VICE, Rolling Stone, Tone Deaf, Pedestrian, Crikey, The Urban List, Mixmag, and The Penington Institute. He also writes the weekly drug policy newsletter Drugs Wrap.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has warned there is no extra relief targeted for this year’s claim, which could again mean workers are handed a bill to pay instead of some extra cash. Like millions of other Australians, Sydney woman Mia was “banking on” getting the “couple of grand” she had become accustomed to at tax time.
