    By Jacob Ramos| The New University Verified UC Irvine Men’s Basketball (32-7, 17-3) finished their 2024-2025 season with a loss against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (29-9, 15-3) in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) Championship in Indianapolis, Ind. on April 3. Chattanooga came into the night as hot as any team in college basketball. The Mocs had won 16 of their last 17, their only loss being in the Southern Conference Tournament Semifinal against Furman University.

  • Irvine to Indianapolis: UCI defeats UAB in NIT quarterfinals 81-77

    By Jacob Ramos| The New University Verified No. 1 UC Irvine Men’s Basketball (31-6, 17-3) faced off against the University of Alabama at Birmingham (24-13, 13-5) in the third round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). Irvine fought against a more athletic, faster and stronger UAB team all night but was able to escape with an overtime victory, 81-77, on the back of a complete team effort. Birmingham was coming off a second-round victory on the road against No. 2 Santa Clara.

  • UCI Men’s Basketball advances in NIT, defeats Jacksonville State 66-61

    By Jacob Ramos| The New University Verified No. 1 UC Irvine Men’s Basketball (30-6, 17-3) continued its National Invitation Tournament run against Jacksonville State (23-13, 12-6) at the Bren Events Center on March 23, wheret Irvine ultimately came out on top, winning 66-61. The scoring began early with Jacksonville State senior forward Marcellus Brigham Jr. hitting a midrange jumper after a Gamecock offensive rebound.
