Jade Fabello is an Austin-based freelance writer, improviser, and an Afrofuturist practitioner co-running the AfroRithm Futures Group. He has written for Texas Monthly, Starwars.com, Austin Monthly, Thrillist, The Brown Journal of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, Study Hall XYZ, Batshit Times, The Black Scholar Journal, and more. He primarily writes personal essays about culture, art, grief, and love. With over 9+ years of experience in the field, he has also interviewed Oscar-winning director Gabriel Osorio, Narcos actor Juan Riedinger, and comic book writer Tim Fielder. He is the writer of “I love words and you.” a newsletter that covers the craft of writing. Alongside his Afrofuturist colleagues, Jade was an artist-in-residence at the University of Kansas in early 2024. There, he helped lead collaborative world-building workshops. Jade was the senior print editor for Spark Magazine, a local Austin fashion publication. There, he edited hundreds of stories across four issues and led teams of writers through eight-week workshops covering voice and writing skills.
