Biography

I've always loved basketball and had a knack for writing. Now those two things have come together to create an NBA writer. I tend to have a bit of a unique point of view on any given topic and I like to talk about the game beyond what happens in 48 minutes of regulation play. I'm into the business side, social issues, psychology. All of that gives me angles that other writers maybe don't come up with. I can write very straightforward profiles and articles but my natural writing style is conversational with some humour and snark mixed in.

By Jade Johnson| Auxiliary Things Verified I'm embracing the irony of making my first story about the end of the NBA season. It's been a strange year for me and I didn't get to follow basketball as closely as I would have liked. I did, however, manage to watch all of the Finals. So, with the Finals, we begin. The Golden State Warriors are, once again, NBA Champions. And now, for all the hate. Am I right?! Why do people hate on the Warriors so hard? Anyway, that's a question for another time.

  • 2021 NCAA Football Championship as a Football Newbie

By Jade Johnson| Belly Up Sports Verified So, I’m watching football for the first time in my life. Like, really watching. Yes, of course, there’s a boy involved. I’m not at all embarrassed by that. There’s a good chance he’s the boy. My watching football is as much a reflection of that possibility as anything else. I’m not watching it because he’s my boyfriend and I gotta give on some things. I’m watching because he’s the only person I’ve ever met who talks about football in a way that makes me interested, intrigued, excited even.

  • Official NBA Twitter Hashtags for 2020-21

By Jade Johnson| Belly Up Sports Verified It’s that time again. The official NBA Twitter Hashtags (technically called hash flags) have dropped for the 2020-21 season. Many teams are returning with the same hashtags that used a season ago as well they should. We’ve got eight teams debuting rookie hashtags this season along with one old favorite coming out of retirement and a few teams bringing a brand refresh.
