Biography
I am a journo with a distinct inclination towards human interest stories. I thrive particularly in stories that stroke the emotional core of the readers. My writing employs a variety of devices, but nothing tickles my fancy quite like a relentlessly dramatic wordplay. I have often thought in my scribal journey: is there a better gift to humanity than that of literature? Negative. That is not to suggest that writing for me is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. Nay. It's virtually always an edged internal antagonism. A battle with love and desire for an incredibly well written piece, against my monolithic ego that is inherently insatiable. A cliche though this might sound, but I have never submitted to an editor a story that satisfied me 80%. I only run out of time. Absolute meticulousness is my principal weakness. But for someone with this kind of hubris, I always pretend to understand my condition which borders on chronic dissatisfaction syndrome, of there's such a condition. I am yet to write that blockbuster that will appease me. That is because I long stopped bothering what people think of my story. Arrogance? Uh-uh. The reviews and remarks are always positive, almost to a point of seeming like a gloss of oil on dirt. I am at war with myself. Every time I type on the keyboard, every time I compose a story, I feel the joy, the sadness and euphoria of a soldier on the battlefront, and who must win the battle to live. And when the battle is won, I hoist my rifle on my shoulder, look around the battlefield, at the fallen soldiers, at the settling smog, the atmosphere of mortal anguish, the smell of death, of hopelessness and of gloom, all with a feeling of utmost dejection, wondering: wasn't it possible to put on a worthier fight? I'd be surprised if this makes sense at all.
