Biography
I am the former sports editor for The Sentinel-Record in Hot Springs, and I have moved back into the main newsroom for the first time in six years. I served as the editor for The Siftings Herald in Arkadelphia, the Prescott (Ark.) Picayune-Times, the Gurdon (Ark.) Times and the Hope (Ark.) Star. I started my journalistic career at the Malvern (Ark.) Daily Record covering courts and crime before moving to sports, which is where I have spent the majority of my career. I look to continue to hone my craft in the main newsroom, taking a break from the always exciting world of sports, but I imagine that I'll still cover some sports.

Hot Springs Northwoods named best mountain biking trail system in state by Arkansas Outside for fifth time in six years
By James Leigh Verified| The Sentinel-Record Verified Despite Arkansas Outside changing the format to something similar to a March Madness bracket, Hot Springs Northwoods Trails System has once again claimed the title of the top mountain biking trails in the state. This marks the fifth time in six years the trail system has taken the title, Visit Hot Springs Trails Coordinator Traci Berry said. "(They) did it during March Madness and decided to make it a bracket instead of just 'Here are the trail systems; vote on it,'" she said.

The Sentinel-Record
The Sentinel-Record, your hometown newspaper, is a family-owned business. The Sentinel-Record and Hot Springs New Era were purchased in 1929 by Clyde Eber Palmer from John A. Riggs. Riggs founded the New Era, a combination of the Daily Bulletin, which began in the 1890s and which he acquired in 1911, and the Daily News, which he later absorbed. John H. Higgins created The Record in 1899.
