Senior Reporter, Express & Star

Wolverhampton

Biography

I have lived in Wolverhampton for over 36 years and am immensely proud of my city and the rich history of it. It is a growing city with so many stories to tell from the communities in it. I am currently working as a Senior Reporter for the Express and Star in Wolverhampton, working across the Black Country, Staffordshire and Wyre Forest on all types of stories. I spent two years working with religious, faith and ethnic groups to help tell their stories as a Community reporter. I completed the Level 6 National Qualification for Journalism in 2021 and the Level 3 NCTJ Diploma in Journalism at City of Wolverhampton College in 2019 and having previously earned a Degree in Journalism Studies at the University of Sunderland. I have done voluntary work at the Rugby League European Federation, Rugby League International Federation, WCR FM, Wolverhampton Wizards Rugby League Club, Utopia FM and Degrees North at University of Sunderland. I have done match reports, video production and website management. I have also been involved in tournaments, working in roles such as Media Manager, Scorer and Statistician and Pitch side reporter within the organisation committee. I have had work published in industry magazines, newspapers and websites from my roles with the RLEF and also as Media Manager of Wolverhampton Wizards and for Inside World Football.

Across the region, there are plenty of pubs that are enlivened by the passion and hard work of the landlord, from how they decorate the pub to the drinks they put on, from the way the pub is set up to any food options.

  • I visited two of my favourite restaurants in the Black Country - this is why they're amazing

By James Vukmirovic Verified| Express & Star Verified It started with an article in a magazine about the best gastropubs in the United Kingdom, where cities like London and Manchester were widely praised, but one part of the country was conspicuous by its absence. The absence of pubs like the Old Joint Stock in Birmingham and the Crown in Tettenhall was disappointing to me as I think this region is a real melting pot of great places to eat, so that struck me as something of a snub.

  • Fancy a culinary day out? We take a look at some of the best food and drink festivals across the West Midlands in months to come

By James Vukmirovic Verified| Express & Star Verified With the weather getting nicer as the winter months fade away and the spring months get going, there's more opportunities for people to go out and about for walks and days out. For some, days out might include a walk in a country park or around an area of natural beauty, maybe a day out at a theme park or attraction. For others, there's more opportunities to go out and enjoy a nice bite to eat or a cold and refreshing drink or, in some case, both while surrounded by like-minded people.
