The battery farm - technically known as a Battery Energy Storage System - is planned for countryside around seven miles south of Lincoln. Yarborough and Birchwood Leisure Centres shut unexpectedly two weeks ago after Active Nation, which ran them for the council, suddenly ceased trading. Council leaders have approved the emergency procurement for a new provider, who will run the centres for the next two years.
