By Jane McClure Verified| Access Press Verified I deal with a lot of self-proclaimed “experts” as a journalist. All of us with disabilities, who are or were caregivers for people with disabilities or health conditions, also deal with “experts.’One of my side gigs years ago was to help at a friend’s antiques and collectibles store. At the time my father was in his final battle with cancer. Another worker asked me about Dad, I answered. . . and then a very helpful customer followed me around the store.

Our school playground had equipment on a bituminous surface, referred to as the “blacktop” by some teachers. A large group of small children tracking in lots of mud would have driven the custodians to distraction.
By Jane McClure Verified| MyVillager Verified Downtown Saint Paul’s historic Commerce Building at Fourth and Wabasha streets will have a new owner, but the city will not be repaid $1,255,384 that it loaned to help convert the building from offices to low-income housing 18 years ago. The City Council, acting as the Housing and Redevelopment Authority Board, voted to forgive three loans on March 12. The HRA action allows the 12-story, 100-unit building to be sold to PAK Properties and the Halverson and Blaiser Group.
