Officers were called to Lytton Plaza in the 200 block of University Avenue around 6 p.m. Saturday for a report of a fight, the Palo Alto Police Department said in a news release. They arrived to find a man in his 60s who said he had just been accosted by a woman.

  • Oakland man gets 7 years for unlawful possession of gun

    By Jason Green Verified| East Bay Times Verified OAKLAND - A 33-year-old Oakland man was sentenced this week to seven years in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, prosecutors said. Pedro Juarez was found guilty of the charge on Sept. 25, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. On Aug. 16, 2023, Juarez forced a woman he knew to travel with him from San Jose to San Francisco, prosecutors said. After he let the woman go, she called 911 and officers descended on his location.
