Our editorial team collaborated with more than 30 local stores and fashion designers to dress 22 models in 90-plus looks.

To set the scene, there was a movement in major U.S. cities in the 1970s and 1980s to revitalize areas as “festival marketplaces” rooted in a European-style shopping experience. In the Twin Cities, we first saw the effort with St. Anthony Main, followed by Bandana Square in St. Paul—home to the original location of the Dakota Jazz Club.
