I'm currently being mentored by award-winning travel journalist Antonia Windsor after being selected for the Talking Travel Writing Mentorship Scheme. As a freelance journalist I bring a unique blend of sixteen years frontline firefighting experience, a background in academia including a PhD in philosophy, and experience of creative writing as an award-winning poet and playwright. I have technical report writing experience at the highest level, having led a team to deliver one and a half million words of academically referenced reports to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police. I also led London Fire Brigade's investigation into their July 2022 Major Incident, creating a report to the Brigade and the Deputy Mayor that identified, evidenced and evaluated performance across the organisation. I have expertise on Turkey and Wales, having lived and travelled extensively in both countries. My goal is to establish myself as a freelance journalist writing on travel and health.
