Biography

Jean-Paul has been a journalist for more than six years. A native of Queens, New York who is half-Ecuadorian and half-Peruvian, Jean-Paul grew up in Long Island, having attained his B.A. in Communications from Dowling College. Jean-Paul worked as a reporter at online and print publications in both New York and Massachusetts. He also worked at Latin Post, a NY-based daily website covering U.S.-Latino issues, where he was senior editor. He is currently enrolled in the M.S. Data Specialization program at Columbia Journalism School, where he is focused on multimedia platform and app design, investigative reporting techniques and learning programming languages like Python, SQL, Excel and R+, among others, to understand and analyze data to tell stories in a more comprehensive way.
