Biography

With over 30 years of experience as a freelance writer and content specialist, I create engaging and meaningful content for various audiences and platforms. I have a master's degree in education and a background in elementary teaching, curriculum development, and the public library system. I've also been involved in every community I've belonged to, serving as PTA President, HUD funding committee chair, and high school tournament judge, to name a few. Community involvement is vital to society. I leverage my expertise in education, arts, and social issues to write about topics that matter to the public good. I have worked extensively in the fields of education, mental health, addiction, and homelessness, providing leadership, training, and content creation for several non-profit organizations. I have also developed and delivered arts education programs, curricula, and original plays and songs for diverse learners and communities. I have published multiple articles and children's books, and am working on an inspirational memoir. I love to write at the intersection of pop culture, community, and faith.

  • Spiritual Retreats

By Jeanni Ritchie| CenLa Focus Verified I discovered spiritual retreats last year. I’d been on church youth retreats and on all-inclusive vacations but these were more a hybrid of the two, an adult vacay for a weary heart. The three I attended were much-needed respites for my soul. In the midst of a divorce and spiraling mentally, a friend from high school suggested I look into a retreat at the Abbey of Gethsemani in Trappist, Kentucky. I didn’t read much more than the word free before sending a request.
