(WCSC/AP) - South Carolina senators voted 33-8 Monday night to approve a resolution to remove the state treasurer from office after an eight-hour hearing. The resolution needed 31 votes to pass the resolution to oust Curtis Loftis from his position. But he’s not out of a job, yet. The South Carolina House would then have to take up the house where two-thirds of that body would also need to approve a resolution for Loftis to be removed.

(AP) — South Carolina's Republican-dominated Senate voted 33-8 on Monday to kick the Republican treasurer out of office over a $1.8 billion accounting error. It will now be up to the House, also dominated by the GOP, to decide whether to hold its own hearing. If at least two-thirds of its members vote against Treasurer Curtis Loftis, he will be removed from office. kAm|@?52JVD 6IEC2@C5:?2CJ 962C:?8 H2D E96 4F=>:?2E:@? @7 @G6C EH@ J62CD @7 :?G6DE:82E:@? 3J E96 $6?2E6 E92E 3682?
