Biography

I’m a creative storyteller with a diverse skill set, working with individuals, small businesses, agencies, and a handful of multinational corporations. I use words, visuals, or a combination of both, not just to inform but also to engage my audience on an emotional level. Clients and colleagues appreciate the enthusiasm I bring to every project, my aptitude for quickly adapting to house grammar and style guidelines, and my efficiency and timeliness. And, I’m a self-starter who never stops learning. I’ve developed and managed websites; created logos and brand guidelines; and devised social media and online advertising strategies. As a side gig, I enjoy designing logos for sailboats and sailing teams. Additionally, and this is very niche, I’m an experienced Lithuanian to English translator. I got my start in media and publishing fresh out of high school as a freelance newspaper photographer at the Lansing State Journal in Michigan. Since those early, exciting days of chasing down stories, processing exposed film in the belly of the art department, and turning in selected proofs to the corresponding writer, I’ve worked as a photo editor, production manager, graphic designer, and art director at several regional and international magazines. After earning a Master of Fine Art in Writing from California College of the Arts, I transitioned my creative focus to writing and editing. I’m a regular contributor to numerous editorial and brand publications creating useful, persuasive stories that entertain, educate, and engage. My subjects of expertise include but are not limited to science, technology, and innovation; fiction and the visual arts; travel and food; sports and outdoor adventure activities; architecture and design; business, branding, and social media; and human interest stories. In my “spare” time, you will most likely find me on a sailboat, sliding down a mountain on skis, riding my bike, exploring my neighborhood on foot, working on my fiction, or learning something new.
