Biography

Jenna is the outgoing Managing Editor of DogTime.com and CatTime.com, as well as the proud helicopter dog mom of her rescue pups Washington and Goldie Hawn. She grew up in rural North Carolina on a family farm, which is where her love of animals became apparent as she quite literally endeavored to save every abandoned fur baby within the farm's proximity. While in college, Jenna ran for a seat on the local Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors. In 2010, at the age of 21, she made history in the state — becoming the youngest woman ever elected to public office. She was re-elected to that Wake County office in 2014, 2018, and again in 2022. In 2020, she was the statewide Democratic nominee for North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture. While her campaign fell short, her voice became an important one in advocating for environmental sustainability in farming, climate change, animal rights, and LGBTQ+ issues. Jenna has also worked as a book editor, ghostwriter, and speech writer for various political personalities across the country. She is passionate about various topics—even appearing on PBS NewsHour, as well as in NBC News, The Nation, The Advocate, Yahoo News, and Newsweek.

DogTime Media reaches over 55 million monthly users via its community of 545 leading pet-focused websites, 610 pet bloggers and more than 3,000 rescue groups. DogTime Media is anchored by its own DogTime.com and CatTime.com which provides a comprehensive library of dog and cat content. Both sites also have their own Adoptable Animal Finder designed to help people find their next adoptable dog or cat. DogTime Media offers advertising solutions to websites looking for how they can earn ad revenue with pet focused ads. We also put together and execute successful campaigns for advertisers that are targeted and focused on the pet market. DogTime Media actively supports the efforts of rescue groups and shelters nationwide to significantly reduce the number of homeless and neglected pets in the country. DogTime Media has several programs dedicated to giving back to the animal community including monthly and annual grant programs and our annual pet bloggers award program (known as The Petties). We continuously look for ways we can give back to the animal community. Through our efforts, DogTime Media has donated over $300,000 to pet related causes. Privately held DogTime Media is based in San Francisco, Calif.
