Biography

I am an investigative reporter with ProPublica's team covering the South. Formerly, I was a projects reporter with The Post and Courier in S.C. In 2019, I was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in Feature Writing for a series about George Stinney Jr., a 14-year-old Black youth executed in 1944. In 2014, I worked with three other reporters on "Till Death Do Us Part," a series about domestic violence that won the Pulitzer Prize in Public Service. My 2019 book, "Grace Will Lead Us Home," about the Emanuel AME Church massacre, was published by St. Martin's Press and was a New York Times Notable Book of 2019 and a Barnes & Notable Discover Great New Writers Pick.
