Biography
Jesús Alvarado is a producer for national radio show Marketplace Tech, where stories about the economy, tech and the digital economy are told. Right now, he's focusing his reporting projects about the internet culture and its digital economic side of things. Alvarado graduated with his master's of science in multi-platform and digital journalism, from Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California in 2019. During his tenure there, he served as the editor of USC's first-ever bilingual radio show, "Dímelo." He brought to the mic a lot of people of color to talk about topics like: the lack of diversity within the curatorial industry, the migrants stuck in Tijuana in 2018-19, and more. He also produced enterprise journalism around the gay community and how their activity in the Twitter/Instagram ecosystem affected other gay's mental health. And more. Before going to graduate school, Alvarado was at CSU Stanislaus, where he was also editor to the community's first-ever bilingual beat at the "Signal Newspaper." He produced print stories about the migrant experience during the 2016 elections, giving context to what it was like to be a migrant during that time and living in CA's Central Valley, which is known to be very right leaning in politics.
