Biography

Jessica McKeown is a highly-experienced music journalist, budding publicist, and creative writer. She developed an interest in writing at the age of eight writing stories with her grandfather (a retired editor for The Daily News in Brooklyn). She also explored journalism and public relations for Student Council in high school, soon continuing her professional writing studies at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Jessica entered the music journalism scene/the music industry itself in April 2013 at 19 years old. Her late best friend and former editor-in-chief of earplugsrequired.com Courtney Campbell recruited her for news stories, music reviews, and other press opportunities including a two-week run on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour. After Campbell’s death, Jessica took a year off before hitting the ground running once more with amplifiededge.com as a staff writer turned editor. With Amplified Edge, she created many memorable career moments including an interview with Greta Van Fleet’s Sam Kiszka while they were still a smaller name and her first opportunities learning concert photography. Jessica currently serves as an assistant editor for emsumedia.com (alongside friend and editor-in-chief Emmy Susani) and a head of writing, editing, and PR for newly-founded outlet Bummer Brews Press. She also recently began a position as the PR agent for DI Records in Pittsburgh, PA. Most importantly, she is a pet mama to her Boston Terrier boy and three guinea pig girls.
