Biography
Jill Conner has provided well-researched and insightful historical coverage of modern and contemporary art since 1995 as a contributor to Afterimage, ArtUS, Art in America, Art Papers, ArtSlant, Contemporary, Flash Art, Interview Magazine, New Art Examiner, On-Verge, Performance Art Journal, Sculpture and Whitehot Magazine. In 2011 Conner founded AS | Artists Studios, an archive of non-represented artists to provide visibility as well as a historical basis for non-market art. She is also a Board Member of AICA-USA and has been a Visiting Critic to Art OMI, LMCC, Woodstock/Byrdcliffe, School of Visual Arts MFA Fine Arts Program, New York Art Residency Program (NARS), Brooklyn Art Space, The Wassaic Program and Residency Unlimited. Jill Conner has provided editorial assistance to Suzan Batu, Rob Campbell, Blane de St. Croix, Pasquale Cuppari, Phyllis Ewen, Meghan Keane, Dorothea Rockburne, and Nola Zirin. For the 2005 "Encyclopedia of 20th-century Photography" published by Routledge Press, Conner wrote the entries for Eastman Kodak and Man Ray. Since 2016, she has provided mentorship to artists at the College Art Association's Annual Conference. Jill Conner recently completed a book draft focusing on the life and career of German artist Max Beckmann.
