Biography

Jim Gunshinan is a widely published science writer, poet, and essayist. He edited Home Energy Magazine and was a science blogger for KQED, the San Francisco Bay Area PBS affiliate. He became a full-time freelance writer in 2020. WingIt Press published a chapbook of his poetry, What the Body Wants, and his poetry appears in several anthologies, including Dance, Word, Dance, and the 2008 Squaw Review. Jim holds BS and MDiv degrees from Notre Dame and an MS from Penn State. Claims to fame include being a fencer on a multi-NCAA championship-winning team at Notre Dame and researching the artificial heart at Penn State. Jim is an empathetic, supportive, and generous colleague and mentor who enjoys creative collaboration.
