Biography

Jo is a TV producer, journalist, director and writer, based in South Africa. Over the past four years she has worked for CNN as their staff Africa features producer and has travelled across the continent and produced , directed and written over two hundred programmes - from conservation to human interest and even innovation. A passionate story teller, Jo is committed to connecting global audiences to Africa through sharing positive, inspiring and universal stories from across the continent. She has been in the industry for sixteen years, and has experience working on a variety of formats – including reality TV, documentary, news and even sport. In 2009, she was the production manager of the FIFA World Cup Final Draw, the biggest live broadcast to come from South Africa at the time. Jo has covered some of the biggest news events to come out of Africa including the Westgate terrorist attack, Nelson Mandela’s death and in 2015 she was the head of production for a 24 hour news channel that covered the Oscar Pistorius murder trial. Jo has also worked for ITN and Reuters in London, Refugees International in Washington D.C and for a start up channel in Abu Dhabi.
