Here’s a look at two of those saves that meant a lot to me – and to plenty of other folks, I’m sure. Sixty years ago, the JJ helped save JFK Boulevard from becoming a treeless federal highway with no sidewalks, and only a few years later saved the Brennan Courthouse from demolition.

    By Joan Quigley| NJ.com Verified Although I never worked in the Jersey Journal building at 30 Journal Square, I visited there often, usually by sneaking up the back stairs that led from the loading dock to the third floor. My official reason for visiting was generally to drop off a news release about something good going on in the county — I was public information officer of the Welfare Board in those days — or something good going on with some women’s organization I belonged to.
