By Joanna Mann Verified| Hey Alma Verified My earliest Jewish memories are set to music. I remember stretching up, down, left and right as someone strummed Modeh Ani on the guitar every Sunday morning to help us greet the day. I remember jumping out of my chair to join the lively dance circle of Mi Kamocha during Shabbat services and blowing my kiddie shofar on the steps of the bimah until my face turned purple during the High Holy Days. I learned what it meant to be a Jew as I learned the songs and dances of our people.
By Joanna Mann Verified| Habitat for Humanity Portland Region@ The story of Greta Brown begins in Texas. It's the state she was born and raised in, and a place she still loves deeply, even though she felt she had to leave. She grew up steeped in that state's rich history, its diverse regions and indigenous culture. She'll tell you about its independent power grid and industrial base (precautions during World War II in the event of enemy attacks on either coasts), its liberal atmosphere, and its culture of independence, which she embraced.

Habitat for Humanity Portland Region
Habitat for Humanity Portland Region is a nonprofit organization focused on providing affordable housing solutions in the Portland area. Established in 1981, it merged with Willamette West Habitat for Humanity in 2021 to enhance its impact across Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties. The organization aims to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live by building homes, fostering community engagement, and promoting environmental sustainability. The organization offers a homeownership program that allows families and individuals to apply for affordable housing, requiring them to contribute sweat equity by working alongside volunteers. Habitat for Humanity Portland Region also builds and repairs homes in collaboration with future homeowners and volunteers. Additionally, it operates ReStores, which are nonprofit home improvement stores selling new and gently used items, with proceeds supporting local homebuilding projects. The organization welcomes donations in various forms to help sustain its mission.
