By Jodi Hersey| WFVX-TV (Bangor, ME) Verified NEWPORT -- Construction is underway on the new roundabout in Newport. The Maine Department of Transportation recommended the roundabout at the intersection of Routes 2 and 7 to help reduce collisions in that area of town. The project comes with a seven million dollar price tag. Construction began during the morning commute on Monday and is expected to last until November. Motorists traveling on Route 2 will be detoured to High Street and Banks Road
